A partnership with Washington Nationals has allowed families with young children to have their own space at the Washington Nationals baseball games. breastfeeding product company LansinohAlexandria, Va., is home to the headquarters of, the global company.
While breastfeeding at a ballgame should be a right for every mom, the Washington Nationals offer a way to do it in a quiet and private space. Moms can still keep their eyes on the game, but they also have privacy. The Lansinoh Nursing Lounge is located at Nationals Park, just off the first baseline. It offers areas for nursing, pumping, and diaper changing, along with outlets for charging phones and other electrical needs, and a sink to rinse out pump parts. The lounge also has TVs, so visitors can catch all the action on the field.
“We are excited to unveil a dedicated and comfortable space for nursing mothers,”Valerie Camillo, Chief Revenue and Marketing officer for the Washington Nationals, stated in a press release. “We truly value the fantastic feedback fans offered us, and are grateful for Lansinoh’s assistance in creating this space.”The opening of the lounge takes place during World Breastfeeding Week. This international initiative promotes breastfeeding acceptance and awareness. It follows the publication of the findings of the 2015 Lansinoh Global Breastfeeding Survey. More than 13,000 mothers-to-be and pregnant women were surveyed in 10 countries. Overall, 96 per cent of women agreed breastfeeding is the best method to feed their baby.
However, around one-third of the women polled said it was embarrassing to breastfeed in public. Lansinoh Nursing Lounge has dedicated spaces for breastfeeding. This can make it easier and more comfortable for moms, who may feel more at ease if they have another space.
