()Approximately 94 percent of older adults want to live at home. The Home Instead Senior Care network has released a survey that shows seniors are reconsidering what it means for them to age in their own homes. It revealed that nearly four out of four seniors want to relocate to better suit their changing needs.

Older adults who are looking to move into a new home for their retirement years want more convenience. Nearly two-thirds of those who wish to remain in their homes have considered age-friendly modifications such as adding grab bars to the bathrooms or other safety precautions.

Seniors and loved ones often have to decide which features are best for them. However, it is important to take into account the potential dangers of aging in certain areas.

* Agility and mobility. Mobility may be impaired by conditions like arthritis. Stairs once simple to navigate may now pose a challenge.

* Balance. Balance.

* Eyesight. Studies show that a 60-year old needs at least three-times the amount of ambient light to see than a twenty-year-old. Poor eyesight can make medication management and personal grooming more difficult and could lead to slips and falls.

* Memory. The effects of memory loss might make it hard for an older adult to stay on a medication plan, remember to turn off stove burners or pay bills on time.

It can be overwhelming to make the decision about where to age. There are so many factors to take into consideration. One in four seniors polled said that they have no plans for where their retirement years will lead them.
