While not everyone is able to walk the red-carpet, it’s still possible to shine even if you aren’t on the A-list. The reality is that celebrities have personal stylists and dietitians who can help them look great. You are right?
Valerie Waters, the trainer of stars, would disagree. “Getting in shape is no different for super stars or super moms; it is all about making your mind up to eat right, snack smart and get active — regardless of whether you are preparing for a movie premiere, your 20-year class reunion or a milestone birthday,”Waters. “Feeling your best for life’s special occasions is a matter of consistently making wise choices.”
Waters has teamed with California Raisins for advice on fitness and health. Here are her top tips to help you make smart choices in 2011.
1. You must make a commitment. It is important to make daily changes, not only when it is convenient for you. Setting goals for your health and fitness is the first step to achieving them.
2. Breakfast is a must every morning. A nutritious breakfast sets you up for a productive day. Simple, healthy breakfasts don’t require much effort. Try plain instant oatmeal with one spoon of chocolate protein powder and a teaspoon of raisins. Or a piece whole-grain toast with a tablespoon all-natural peanut butter.
3. Snack smart. Consistently eating unhealthy foods will not make you lose weight. Make sure you plan ahead to make healthy snacks and lunches that include lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and veggies. Raisins make a great snack on the go. A quarter cup of California Raisins is equivalent to a full-sized serving of fruit. They are also fat- and cholesterol free.
4. It is important to be consistent. It’s better to have a short workout than none. If you don’t have the time to exercise, consider moving your coffee table to one side to make room for an at-home workout. When time is short, don’t limit your workout to your stomach. Do not do crunches that burn very few calories. Instead, exercise as many muscles as possible in the time available.
