Sponsored News: There’s no doubt that ethanol is helping America reduce dependence on foreign oil. It lowers gasoline prices, improves the environment with lower emission and grows the economy with jobs that cannot be outsourced.

More than 350,000 jobs were created by the ethanol sector in 2015 alone. Ethanol contributed almost $44 billion to America. Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is more than the entire GDP of many other countries, was also nearly $44 billion. The U.S. had to import 527 millions fewer barrels crude oil to supply the country with gasoline because it produced 14.7 billion gallons.

E15 (15 percent Ethanol, 85 percent Gasoline) is a 21st Century fuel for 21st Century cars. The extra octane in E15 helps engines work at their best. E15 is approved for all vehicles model year 2001 and newer, which accounts for more than 84 percent of all vehicles on the road, demonstrating that there is a market ready for a less expensive, higher octane, more environmentally-friendly alternative fuel.

The advancement of new technologies is making American ethanol more eco-friendly and sustainable. Syngenta is the only company that offers Enogen corn enzyme tech, which is an inseed innovation. It’s the only corn specifically designed to increase ethanol production. Enogen corn can be integrated into an existing production process to lower the viscosity in corn mash. This will increase production efficiency and decrease costs.

Quad County Corn Processors of Iowa (QCCP), which is based in Iowa, opened its 2-million gallon cellulosic ethanol production facility. This helped usher in a new era within the biofuels industry. Cellerate is a revolutionary new technology that makes cellulosic ethanol out of corn kernel fiber. This process can be used by QCCP in conjunction with the starch that is normally processed. Syngenta markets Cellerate exclusively to North American ethanol plants. Cellerate is now available to the biofuels sector, allowing them to create 2 billion gallons of cellulosic additional ethanol from the same corn kernel.

These technologies are a unique way Syngenta is addressing the global food security problem. Syngenta is making The Good Growth Plan a reality by introducing Cellerate and Enogen, which are examples of Syngenta’s six ambitious commitments that aim to increase productivity and use fewer resources. They also want to make ethanol more sustainable.

American ethanol is a major success story. It helps to lower gasoline prices and reduce carbon emissions to create a cleaner environment.
