Over 71 million people are active boaters. This means that they have taken part in boating at the very least once in the last year.
The water is the best place to escape the world, whether you are looking for fishing, water skiing, snorkeling, or cruising.
“It seems there aren’t many places anymore where people can truly get away from it all, but being aboard a boat out on the water is one of them,”Pepper Schwartz is a sociologist who is also a relationship expert. “Once you leave the dock, it doesn’t matter if you’re only 20 minutes from home, you and your family feel as if you’re a million miles away.”
That feeling and experience was what inspired the short film “titled”. “Good Run,”Featured on the Website www.DiscoverBoating.com. Wally Pfister (Academy Award nominee) directed the film. “Good Run”A story about a man’s journey and how boating is the common thread that binds his fondest memories.
“We were looking for a way to pay tribute to those who love boating, while showing boating’s powerful ability to connect people to those who may have never experienced being on the water for themselves,”Carl Blackwell is vice president of marketing communications for the national Discover boating campaign. “The response we’re receiving from ‘Good Run’ is exactly what we were aiming for. People are moved by the role boating can play in the enrichment of our relationships with family and friends.”
Boating is a habit that can be cultivated early in life. According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, 70% of American boaters started boating as children.
“Good Run”The main character, who is a boater by birth, experiences what it’s like to grow up on the water. He goes on fishing trips with his father as a boy, and a honeymoon cruise in a classic wooden boat with his bride. Later, he bonds with his son and grandchildren as they cruise across a lake.
