It can be difficult to choose the right home for you when it comes to remodeling your home. Granite countertops have been the current trend. Passe. Fake painted walls? Wallpaper is back! You get the point.

Hardwood floors have stood the test of time. They add warmth and classic beauty to any home, even the most modest.

“Hardwoods are just easier, especially for people who have pets and kids,”Kevin Aycock of Kevin Aycock Homes, Atlanta, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he was interviewed for the interview.

Homeowners have many choices when it is time to install hardwood floors. There are so many options, it can be difficult to choose the right hardwoods.

Most industry experts agree that pre-finished beats unfinished.

“Factory finishes can furnish up to 10 UV- and wear-resistant layers, and offer a 20-year guarantee that on-site finishers can’t get close to,”Gary Mills from Fullerton Wholesale Flooring in Anaheim (California) spoke to The Washington Post in an exclusive interview.

Engineered wood (also known as veneers) is an affordable option that provides all the benefits of solid plank flooring. It is made up of three to five layers wood laminated together. Cross-lamination makes engineered floors more stable than solid wood and doesn’t expand or contract as much. They can be installed in any grade, and are usually less expensive than solid planks. Engineered wood is $3-$18/square foot. It will last 20 to 100 year depending on how thick the top veneer.

Hardwoods can be damaged, but they are not indestructible. Mohawk FlooringIt is determined to ensure that hardwood floors last as long possible.

Tammy Perez from Mohawk Flooring, director of hard surface market marketing, says that the new ArmorMax topcoat, which has been added to the premium laminate collection enhances a heavy-duty wear layer on all hardwood flooring.

“Mohawk ArmorMax floors have all of the design options we love about hardwood — a variety of colors, widths and textures,” Perez said. “But ArmorMax finish is not a topical finish. It penetrates deep into the wood fiber, making it up to five times more resistant to wear than other extended finishes.”
