You are probably aware of how hard it can be to find family-friendly programming on television. Shows that don’t make you hover over the remote are better. “just in case.”

Parents can rest easy thanks to America’s favourite source for weather information. AMHQ with Sam Champion is a new morning show on the Weather Channel. Champion, one of America’s most beloved and well-known TV personalities, joined Weather in March following years spent at WABC-TV and, more recently, Good Morning America.

Champion explains that Champion left his position as America’s No. 1 weatherman to pursue a new role. GMA’s No. 1 weatherman was Champion. AMHQShort for “America’s Morning Headquarters”Because of the show “not only aims to prepare viewers for the day by forecasting regional and local weather, but looks ahead at the news and events that will unfold and shape their days.”

Parents will find the educational material on the show to be particularly helpful. AMHQ recently aired pieces about orca whales, National Heat Stroke Prevention Day and hail formation. This type of programming is what parents and children enjoy together.

“We got feedback from viewers telling us they liked having the show on in the morning when their kids are getting ready for school because there is content about science and the natural world around us,”Champion

Regular science segments include “Science Behind…,”The video takes viewers through the causes of weather phenomena. “View from Above,”Pieces about space. Champion admits that he didn’t intend to create a family show but it’s not necessarily bad to be branded as such.

“We don’t need to be a show that leads with the latest sensational tabloid crime or be a place with people yelling and arguing just for entertainment,”He says.
