It’s hard to be green when you share space in a shared area with more than 3,000,000 people. One Southern California company is making it easy.
BP GardensGreenGro Technologies (OTC : GNRH), an Anaheim-based technology company that promotes local farming, is creating vertical gardens as a subsidiary. James Haas CEO of GreenGro Technologies (OTC: GNRH), says that the company’s goal is to provide locally grown, pesticide free fruits and vegetables for local residents, restaurants, and grocers.
BP Gardens was born out of an idea by Haas. He explained that the idea was to conserve as much water and energy as possible while still producing fresh, local produce and herbs for customers.
Haas says there will be two locations and two different growing methods. BP Gardens Buena Park, which is located on 4.5 acres in Anaheim California, features a 5,000-seat fully hydroponic growing system. BP Lincoln Gardens in northern California employs a zero waste, 80 percent water-saving aquaponics system with a 40,000-seat capacity.
“With California consistently facing severe droughts, these systems will help change the way we grow [food], modernizing its processes to become more sustainable for the future,” says Haas.
Buena park has finished its construction and planted its first plants. Lincoln is installing floating raceways to introduce fish and is in the process. This location will concentrate on the production of heavy greens as well as Sacramento Perch for customers. Haas stated that he expects to grow 45,000 lettuce heads per month between the two structures.
Haas was able to find a way to combine technology, food production and reduce the company’s carbon footprint. He also discovered a niche in the medical marijuana market. GreenGro is not involved in the sale or distribution of medical marijuana. However, Haas stated that GreenGro’s advanced hydroponic systems and equipment are beneficial to this business.
Haas estimates that 60 percent of his customers purchase his gardening equipment for medical marijuana. However, he insists that he is focusing on his BP Gardens projects and won’t stop at the California market. He believes he can expand his ideas worldwide.
“BP Gardens wants to go big,” says Haas. “We want to be the source for food and not have to have it travel, and save the Earth.”
