A selection of three ingredients is all that’s required to enjoy Martinique’s spirit and culture. Ti’ Punch is a French West Indies term that means ‘petit punch’ or’small Punch’. It’s a beverage to enjoy throughout the day. This is similar to how espresso is woven in daily life in Italy. Rhum Agricole, an American-style rum made of freshly squeezed sugarcane syrup rather than molasses, is the cocktail’s base. An acronym for rum is “H”It is distinguished from its counterparts, and signifies that it is Rhum Agricole.

To promote this classic cocktail, Rhum ClementClement Ti’ Punct Cup hosted by, a top-notch producer of Rhum Agricole. The competition began in 2015 with several regional contests and ended at HabitationClement last month. The Ti’s Punch Cup World Final brought together 17 finalists representing 10 countries. They were selected from over 400 bartenders from around the world, including those from Europe and Hong Kong. All entries submitted original recipes that adhered strictly to the basic structure of the cocktail recipe with an additional twist.

More than 1,400 people attendedThe event was held at Habitation Clement in Martinique. It was a historic landmark that allowed people to watch as the finalist presented their winning cocktail recipe, qualifying them for travel to Martinique. Ten contestants were invited to compete in the semifinal. “marketplace”round, the challenge was to create a Ti’ Punch with a secret ingredient that they gathered from more than 60 local herbs, fruits, spices, and elixirs. The Ti’ Punch Speed Challenge was the final round. Dirk Hany, head barman at The Widder Bar, Zurich, Switzerland, won the first Clement Ti’ Punch Cup trophy.

Rhum Clement has announced the dates for its second contest following the success of the Ti’ Punch Cup. Registration will open in the spring 2017. The next world final in Martinique is scheduled for March 2018.
