Most parents will take their children trick or treating at least once a year. Some parents fear this chore and would rather stay at home handing out candy than running house to house with their children or their friends. Don’t worry moms and daddy, there are some simple tricks that can make your evening more enjoyable.

* Courtesy. Explain to your children a few important points. Remind them to thank you and give them a piece of candy. You should also respect the property and yards of the people you are visiting by not walking along the sidewalk or touching any holiday decorations, such as pumpkins, flowers, or pumpkins. Avoid houses with lights on and don’t ring the doorbell more than once.

* Control. Large groups of children can get out of control and can make it hard to maneuver around front doors. If you’re the parent responsible for escorting large groups, break them into smaller groups, such as 6 to 7 children, and then send them each to a different home. Then, have them swap houses. Explain to them that this allows them more house visits.

* Comfort. Some parents want (or are convinced by their children) to wear a costume. But don’t sacrifice comfort. You’ll be able to keep your feet comfortable if you have good walking shoes. A funny hat and ears can go a long ways. You can bring water if it is hot or sunglasses if your children are younger.
