DuPont released a survey that found homeowners are concerned about protecting their pets, family and properties from pest infestations. Respondents indicated that forty percent are most afraid of possible bug bites and stings. Another 35 percent are most concerned about the potential damage to their lawn or home caused by insects.

A survey found that 70% of homeowners are concerned about pesticide safety and want to manage insect infestations safely for their pets, family members and themselves. Good news is that pesticides and pesticides are not options for consumers. Pest-control options today offer homeowners an effective way to manage pests in their homes, while minimizing the impact on their pets and families.

“DuPont’s survey mirrors the priorities I have as a parent and homeowner and what I hear from others when it comes to bug control that’s both effective and environmentally friendly,”Lisa Quinn, a national recognized expert on home and garden, said: “My advice is to leave it to a professional to correctly diagnose and treat any bug problem you may have in your home or yard and to ask for high-performing, low-impact products like those recently introduced by DuPont.”

Quinn suggests that consumers search the web site CallYourPro.com for a local pest control professional. Quinn is sponsored by DuPont. Enter your ZIP code to get a list of local pest-control and lawn-care specialists who can help you control pests in a sustainable manner.

CallYourPro.com provides information on environmentally-friendly professional pest-control products as well as application techniques that are not readily available to the public.

Do not try to tackle your pest problem using a DIY bug-control solution. You will be disappointed. The survey revealed that 52 percent of people who attempted to control bugs with homemade remedies were disappointed. Keep in mind that homemade solutions can cause more damage than good to your lawn and home. It is best to use a professional who only uses approved products from the EPA and has been trained in proper handling and application.

Although calling a professional may be the best option for bug problems, 66% of homeowners said that they first do to squish a bug when they see it.
