Machine Gun Kelly (aka Richard Colson Baker) considers himself a loser. In interviews, he has stated the same. However, that was before he signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Sean “P Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy record label last August.

That statement seems absurd given his current status as a rising-star among rap musicians.

MGK is his preferred nickname. A 22-year-old white boy, he is known for his quick fire, rat-a-tat-tat-tat delivery. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, an American hip-hop band from Ohio, inspired him.

Kelly was born in Houston Texas but his childhood was filled by cross-country moves. He even went on a missionary trip through Senegal. Kelly eventually settled in Cleveland, Ohio.

MGK has been steadily building his reputation in hip hop since 2010, not only by rapping at a fast pace that few artists can match but also by paying homage the city he loves by detailing the hardships of working and living in a blue-collar community and his battle with drug abuse.

Although some question his decision to sign with Bad Boy. To date, Bad Boy has been a veritable dump ground for artists who have gone Platinum (think Biggie Smalls in the mid-90s) and those who have done little to help the label achieve any success. MGK stands by his new employer, despite all the controversy.

According to reports, there was an auction for the up-and-coming rapper. Bad Boy decided to treat their new client with kid gloves.

“They agreed not to touch my music, and that was the most important thing for me,”Kelly spoke last year during an interview.

Fast forward two more years, and MGK is now supported by one of the most famous record producers in world. A full-length debut album is called “Lace Up,”This summer, the release of a guest spot for featured artists is planned DMXThe new album by ‘ “Undisputed,”Produced by Seven Arts Music, Los Angeles — with 388,000 Twitter followers — an indicator of how popular an artist today.

Kelly seems to think the world is his oyster right now and is ready to take it by storm.
