Students planning for the future will have to make new decisions with the start of a new year. While the Covid-19 pandemic continues to throw many students off their career plans, parents and students can still reflect on the situation and consider other options. Discovering the learning style of a student is a good place to start.

Everybody has a learning style. Some people learn best through visuals, while others prefer to listen and learn by doing. These hands-on learners find a job in the high-tech transport industry not only suits them but also gives them security and satisfaction.

Parents are becoming more aware of the different learning styles and spending more time watching their children learn in virtual schools. Many learners who are hands-on struggle in traditional learning environments. These children and teens can thrive when they are exposed to educational opportunities that highlight their strengths and help them get on the path to a successful career.

TechForce Foundation is an organization that supports professional technician careers. They provide resources and encourage teachers and parents to support and recognize technical careers that are a good fit for hands on learners.

“For too long, we’ve accepted as truth that a college degree is the only way to get ahead and we’ve overlooked the gifts, talents and significant contributions of students who don’t fit the four-year mold,” says Jennifer Maher, CEO & Executive Director of the TechForce Foundation.

“For students who are mechanically minded, and learn best when they’re in action, a quality technical or vocational education can be the path to success.”

It is part of its ongoing “Be a Pathfinder”Campaign, TechForce Foundation offers a free online assessment that helps students (and adults!) identify their learning styles. Participants will receive a detailed report with career and educational advice based upon their style, whether it is visual, auditory or kinetic.

The campaign encourages students be “pathfinders”By helping them understand and discover their unique strengths, we can help them choose the right career and educational path.
