Hosting a major event in the film industry is not for the weak of heart. Ask Anne Hathaway and James Franco. Or David Niven. It requires courage, flexibility, endurance and charisma. Horses have many attributes that will be honored at EQUUS Film Festival NYC on Nov. 21-22 at Village East Cinema. Based on Hercules, a real-life Lusitano that Suzanne Kopp–Moskow wrote, Li’l Herc equine literary character returns to New York to host the Family Fest. “This horse,”She said, “re-awakened my heart to the power of goodness,”It inspired a children’s book about globetrotting kindness. Beatrice Bulteau is a multi-media artist and illustrator who will be collaborating with Kopp-Moskow in bringing Li’l Herc to life in a book due to be published next year.

Li’l Herc was chosen because of the classic tale about a girl who dreams and a horse that wins. “A Sunday Horse,”Screening at 10:15 a.m. This is the true story about Ocala showjumper Debi Connor. “Twilight”Nikki Reed, actress, overcame obstacles greater than a Grand Prix course — including a near fatal accident and epilepsy diagnosis — to prove that her horse was worthy of being called a champion.

“It’s the first American-based movie set in Grand Prix show jumping since Disney’s 1968 classic, ‘The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit,’ starring a young Kurt Russell,”Vic Armstrong, the director, is a lifelong horseman who also serves as an action stunt coordinator and director for six Bond movies, Mission Impossible 3 Terminator 2 and all of the Indiana Jones films. “It was a terrific challenge, working with 30 actors, 300 extras and about 150 horses. It was important to tell this great story, but equally important to get the world of show jumping right onscreen.”
