You work hard. You show up early to work and leave at night. You work from home using your Blackberry or laptop. You watch others grow around you, while your career remains stagnant. Why is this happening?
Darren Hardy, editor at SUCCESS Magazine says that you might be able accomplish more if your focus is on doing less. “This behavior of constant busyness can actually take you off course from your high-value goals; tax your physical, psychological and emotional system; and even damage or destroy relationships,”Hardy writes in the October issue SUCCESS Magazine.
Superachievers work less than most others but accomplish much more in a shorter amount of time. Instead of filling your waking hours with work, focus on being less busy and more productive.
Hardy gives these tips to Americans who want to make the most out of their time:
It is time to stop wasting your time. To make space for activities that lead to success, you need to stop doing what is not necessary. “The only way you can gain more time is to stop doing something,”Hardy.
You can filter out junk from your life. You can filter out incoming emails and identify the most important people before you agree to participate in activities and projects.
– Simply say “no.”Do not overcommit to pleasing others. Say what you want. “yes”You’re not saying anything if you don’t agree with the request. “no”Take care of yourself.
Accept what you can bear. Acceptance is the key to success in life. You set the standard for your life. You shouldn’t be able to tolerate wasteful or unreasonable demands.
– Learn to delegate. You can concentrate on the most pressing demands of your time if you allow others to carry out your ideas.
Value your time. You can’t be a slave to your leisure, but it is a necessary part of being more productive. Your creativity will be destroyed if you work without breaks. You will be less productive if you work too much. It’s better to take some time off and then come back to work feeling refreshed. “Time off is an important component of hard-core achievement and productivity,”Hardy.
