In the olden days people used maps to locate restaurants and yellow pages for directions. Their phones weren’t often used as lightsabers.
The iPhone and its many apps were the next best thing since sliced loaf. The iPhone allows users to count calories, listen or play music, track their workouts via GPS, surf Amazon, look at videos, check email, get low gas prices, make animated beer, and knock on virtualwood. Soon, our meals will be prepared and driven by the iPhone.
Directed Electronics has released Viper SmartStart, a new iPhone app that allows users to unlock their doors, start their car, and adjust the temperature inside the vehicle. This is all done without the use of a key fob.
Viper SmartStart is useful for anyone living in colder areas, unlike other apps that measure how long it takes to press a button. Viper SmartStart can be installed in your vehicle by downloading the app and installing it. The app’s capabilities do not end there.
“Viper SmartStart has many other capabilities beyond remote start,”Mike Simmons, executive vice-president of Directed Electronics. “Depending on the installation, users can also lock and unlock the doors, pop the trunk, find their car in a parking lot or arm their security system. Users can even control multiple cars from one iPhone.”
Remote start systems that use a key fob remote control can only provide a limited range. The Viper SmartStart app works from anywhere, as long as it receives a signal.
Experts have recognized the innovative work of Viper SmartStart. The Viper SmartStart won the Best of Innovations honors at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.
