Cyber attacks can affect anyone, no matter what industry or person you work in. It’s an unfortunate fact of modern times.
You think you are immune? Cyberattacks are common in the United States each year. The biggest victims include companies such as Home Depot, Adobe Systems and Target. Evernote, Evernote, Evernote, Citigroup and Target all fall prey to cyberattacks.
Small businesses, even though they may not have the same resources as Fortune 500 companies to fight data breaches, are just as vulnerable. A Verizon Data Breach Investigations report found that more than 70% of businesses breached had less than 100 employees. These breaches cause massive losses. Trend Micro discovered that “cybercriminals steal as much as $1 billion a year from SMBs in the United States and Europe, alone.”
It begs the obvious question: If large and small businesses, as well as the U.S. Government can be compromised (even with security protocol in place), what does this mean for individuals?
This is a question Dr. Robert Short, chief tech officer and chief technical science of VirnetX, struggled to answer and finally found the answer in the form of Gabriel, a collection of encrypted communication apps that are secure and encrypted. It is a CIA-sponsored Department of Defense project.
“The genesis of Gabriel really was trying to solve the problem of how you make security transparent to the user. The means to automatically create a secure connection whenever a secure connection is needed to wherever it is needed, and create it on demand,”Short. “That has always been the vision behind Gabriel.”
Short says the difference between Gabriel products and other products is that Gabriel users do not need to store or transmit data to any third party including VirnetX. This allows data to be stored on the users’ own devices. Users retain control over their data.
Gabriel users can also access secure, encrypted (spamless), email, text messages, and free voice and video calling. They can also share a picture or file with other Gabriel users within their network, all from their personal devices.
Gabriel works on iPhone, iPad and Android as well as Windows, Mac OSX, Windows, Windows, and Android. Gabriel can be downloaded from the App Store, Google Play Store, or gabrielsecure.com.
