A difficult economic environment can cause stress for homebound seniors and their pets. Seniors often feed their pets when they are tight on money. This means that neither the pet owner or the pet receive the nutrition they require to be healthy.

Banfield Pet Hospital and Banfield Charitable Trust (BCT), teamed up with the Meals on Wheels Association of America, (MOWAA), to create Season of Suppers, a pet-feeding program that is now in its fifth season. This partnership allows owners and pets to be fed. Over 760 Banfield locations have started collecting pet food donations and monetary donations for homebound seniors.

The BCT is hoping to collect 40 tons and raise $100,000 for pet food distribution programs despite the current economic climate.

Season of Suppers provides more than meals. Each year, the funds it raises help to sustain and expand pet-feeding programs across the country. The Season of Suppers campaign has resulted in more than 100 pet feeding programs being funded or receiving much-needed support.

Season of Suppers continues until December 31. You can feed your pets by one of three methods this year.

1. Place your pet food in the Season of Suppers donation box at any Banfield Pet Hospital (located within PetSmart). Items that are easily transportable, such as small cans and bags, are suggested by the BCT.

2. Donate money to any Banfield Pet Hospital using the Season of Suppers donation form. Find your closest Banfield location by visiting www.banfield.net

3. Make a contribution online by visiting www.BCTSOS.orgClick the button “donate now”Click here. A $30 donation will feed one pet for a month.
