()Today’s parents are more willing to allow their children to use smartphones or tablets at an earlier age. The US has nine out of ten 6- to 12-year-olds with access to tablets and smartphones. Two thirds of these children use tablets or smartphones daily. Parents often have concerns and questions about their children’s use of them, and what apps they prefer.
It doesn’t matter if you’re using video chat for grandparents to talk, keeping in touch with distant cousins or sending mom a photo decorated while she works late. “hi,”Safe messaging options for parents that are both fun and safe for children are important.
Messenger Kids was launched in the US this month on the App Store. It is the latest solution for answering the parents’ questions.
“After talking to thousands of parents, associations like National PTA, and parenting experts in the US, we found that most feel there’s a need for apps that let kids connect with people they love, but also have the level of parental control parents want,” says Loren Cheng, Product Management Director.
Messenger Kids is a stand-alone app that offers many benefits.
Connection. Apps can be a great way to connect with your loved ones. Messenger Kids lets children video chat and send messages to parent-approved contacts after their account has been set up by a parent.
Creativity. Fun apps should encourage creativity and let kids express themselves without being restricted by their parents. Messenger Kids offers a variety of GIFs, frames and stickers that are appropriate for children. They can also use the drawing tools to decorate photos and videos. Live video chats make it even more enjoyable.
Control. Messenger Kids allows parents to have more control over their children’s use of apps and how they interact with them. This gives parents more control. The contact list can be completely controlled by the parents. Kids cannot connect with anyone that they don’t approve.
Convenience. Apps should be easy to use, especially for children. Messenger Kids was developed with the help of over a dozen advisors and thousands of parents in the areas online safety, child development, and technology for children. The home screen displays at a glance who children are allowed to contact and when they are available online once the account has been established.
Messenger Kids Preview is currently available only in the US via the Apple App Store. In the future, it will be available through the Amazon App Store as well as the Google Play Store.
