Vacation. Millions of Americans travel by plane, train, and automobile every year to visit their favorite destinations. Consider other options if you can’t afford a vacation of your dreams.
DIY Network offers a chance to win a state-of the-art vacation home that was designed by viewers each year. Online viewers can vote on each phase of a home project and then see the construction in TV’s only interactive series, Blog cabin. The three cabins are located in mountain-side and lakefront locations. These places encompass all aspects of a vacation destination.
Even if you don’t win the Blog cabin, there are many ways to incorporate design elements from the cabin into your home. You can experience the excitement and relaxation of the Cabin while still investing in your home.
* Take it outside. Homeowners are expanding their outdoor living spaces more than ever. The backyard will be a haven for gatherings, no matter if you add a firepit or an entire outdoor kitchen.
* Upgrade your landscaping. Try to replicate your favorite vacation spot’s vegetation. You will love the tropical tropics if you plant lots of vibrantly colored, lush plants. The design will make you want to stay at home forever.
* Create a sanctuary for the man of the house. He can create a man cave in his house, where he is the only one who has any decorative input. Turn the basement, garage, or attic into a space where he can enjoy his hobbies without being interrupted by his family. The man cave will be a benefit to the women of the house, allowing them to enjoy the rest of their house without being interrupted by the men.
* Get the kids outside by building them a tree fort or play house. Encourage them to participate in the design and make it reflective of their hobbies and interests. After it is built, let your children direct you on how you would like it to look.
