George Foreman, world-champion boxer and community leader, father, husband, and well-respected spokesperson has built an empire around one quality: integrity.
“The greatest asset, even in this country, isn’t oil or gas,”Foreman. “It’s integrity. Everyone is searching for it, asking, ‘Who can I do business with that I can trust?'”
Foreman built his business around his fame as a boxer who was a world champion. At 44, Foreman reclaimed his title as heavyweight champion boxer and began to use his image to market products. However, it was his partnership deal with Salton, Inc. which led to the George Foreman lean, mean, fat-reducing grilling machine, a $137.5million endorsement deal that allowed Foreman positive influence on people’s lives.
“All the ads I had done for sausages, you name it, [I was] mainly thinking about money. But then I went into the grill business.”Foreman.”I was meeting people who would say, ‘The doctor told me to get a George!’ I’m like, what are they talking about? Get a George? From that point on, you know, I can never go back to what I used to do where I just sell and sell,”He said. “Now everything I do has to be connected to something healthy.”
Foreman runs a website where people can order cookbooks, memoirs, or autographed boxing gloves. Three of his 10 books were published in the past two years by Thomas Nelson. They offer inspiring insights into fatherhood, life, and comebacks.
Foreman gave these tips in an interview with SUCCESS Magazine:
– Belief. It is important to believe in something. You could believe in the person you are supporting. It is important to have something that you believe in. You cannot be talked out by dollars and cents.
Integrity. Your integrity and name must be preserved.
– Sales. Selling is a skill that will make you rich.
– Resilience. If you do not do enough business, then you are likely to fail. However, you can always get back because of your integrity.
Persistence. It may take one year, or it may take three to four years, but eventually you will have something that you can share with your family.
– Legacy. It is your desire to leave a legacy. They don’t have any meaning. We all can benefit from something you leave.
