According to the American Heart Association, people should eat fish rich omega-3s (including salmon and tuna) at least twice per week.

Tuna is considered a slimming superfood. Tuna is also high in lean protein, nutrients, and vitamins such as vitamin D, selenium, niacin, and B12.

“The ‘slimming secret’ is its protein content,”Dawn Jackson Blatner is a registered dietitian and contributes to Fitness Magazine. “Tuna is a lean protein and an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. Protein helps you feel full, and preliminary research suggests that omega-3s may decrease the amount of fat your body stores.”

LEMONY PASTA SALAD

Cook for 10 minutes

4 servings

5 ounces farfalle

3 (2.6 oz. Pouch StarKist Flavor Flavour Fresh Pouch Albacore white Tuna

3 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest, heaping

1/4 cup fresh juice lemon

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 15-ounce can of cannellini beans, rinsed.

1 cup grape tomatoes, halved

2 cups baby spinach

1/2 small red onions, thinly sliced

4 teaspoons grated Parmesan

1. Follow the package instructions to cook farfalle. Drain the farfalle, rinse it under cold water, and drain again.

2. Transfer the tuna to a bowl. Toss in a bowl.

3. Combine lemon zest and juice with remaining oil, garlic, mustard and sugar in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper.

4. Toss farfalle, tomatoes, beans, arugula, and onion in a bowl. Add the tuna and toss gently. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon Parmesan on top of each serving
