Many people start the new year with a renewed interest in their overall health. This renewed interest in improving one’s health doesn’t last very long. A recent study found that half of those who make a resolution for the New Year abandon it by January 31st. 90 percent give up by March 31st.
Valerie Waters, celebrity trainer for fitness, says that rather than falling into these sad statistics, people should have a renewed and long-term determination to get fit.
“New Year’s is a great time of year to set priorities and focus on good health for the entire year. The key is getting into a healthy routine,” Waters said.
Waters has these tips to help with sticking to a routine
* Set a goal and deadline. There are few things that will make you more committed than a deadline.
* Know where you are. Measurements and weight are important before you begin a diet. Keep track of your progress by writing them down.
* Know where you’re going. To stay focused and to know when you have reached your goal, set a specific and clear goal that can be measured.
* Eat right. A 1/4 cup serving of California Raisins is a good way to eat healthy. Raisins are rich in potassium and antioxidants that help to reduce oxidation. This helps to lower cholesterol and prevents high blood pressure. For a healthy snack, try this recipe.
