In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic this year, holidays may look different, but some things will not change. Lifetime’s holiday movie slate will be a good example of that.
Lifetime’s 2020 It’s a Wonderful Lifetime movie series is a great way to provide comfort, joy and humor for viewers.
The event starts on October 23rd and runs through December 25th. This year’s biggest holiday event on the network features 30 brand-new films and over 1,200 hours worth of holiday programming.
Lifetime’s commitment to inclusion storytelling continues this holiday season, with a number of network firsts, including the first LGBTQ holiday romance. “The Christmas Setup,”It starred real-life spouses Blake Lee and Ben Lewis; the first movie was about a Chinese-American family. “A Sugar & Spice Holiday,”Jacky Lai, Tony Giroux”; its first movie featuring a lead actor with a disability, “Christmas Ever After” starring Ali Stroker and Daniel di Tomasso; and its first movie about a military veteran, “A Welcome Home Christmas,” starring Jana Kramer and Brandon Quinn.
Scheduled to air on November 7, “A Welcome Home Christmas” will repeat on Veterans Day, November 11. The plot features a young woman and a veteran recently returned home who are paired up to work on a small town’s Army holiday toy drive. Naturally, they realize that the greatest gift of the season has been getting to know each other.
Also featured this year is the heartwarming “Feliz NaviDAD,” premiering November 21, starring Mario Lopez as a single dad who has lost the holiday spirit after losing his beloved wife. To avoid Christmas, dad David Morales (played by Lopez) works delivering packages, but this year his sister and his teenage daughter scheme to use online dating to restore happiness and holiday cheer to his life.
Can’t resist a sequel? Fans of last season’s “Merry Liddle Christmas” starring Kelly Rowland, can look forward to Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding,”Premiering November 28, JacquieLiddle, played by Rowland, and Tyler navigate through hurdles including a snooty and eager wedding planner. The couple has a memorable wedding, despite their plans going awry.
