Holidays mean gatherings. However, cramming extended families into one home can cause more stress than peace and goodwill.
Merry Maids has these easy cleaning tips that will make your home shine and be welcoming during the holidays.
Take up the issue of shared living spaces:
Clear clutter from couches, chairs, and end tables. This will give you more space to enjoy the big game or holiday movies.
Temporarily move floor pillows and pet beds to make room for more people. You can remove pet hairs from the flooring and upholstery with a damp sponge, or the bottom of a clean shoe.
Folding chairs should be cleaned before they are brought into your home. You can use mild soap and water or an all-purpose cleaner.
Keep your kitchen spotless:
Clear your countertops by getting rid of items that you don’t use like cookie jars or toasters. Then, store them in cabinets. This will allow you to have more space for your holiday meal preparations.
Dishwashers should be kept away from the sink. If ceramic or stainless steel sinks are used, rinse the sink and then wipe with a clean, dry towel. The sink can be dried to prevent mineral deposits building up.
You can dry-on foods in the microwave by filling a glass measuring cup two-cups with water and the juice of one lemon. Microwave on high for approximately 45 seconds or until water boils. The steam should be created in the microwave, which will allow dried-on foods to become loosenable. The fresh smell of lemon juice will be created.
You can restore the shine to silverware by gently scrubbing it with toothpaste or lemon juice. Next, rinse the silverware and gently buff it with soft cloth.
Lighting can set the mood
If you don’t have the time or energy to clean and polish your home, lighting can set the mood and distract from the unfinished work. Candlelight creates a relaxing atmosphere by casting flattering shadows.
Consider hiring a professional cleaning service to clean your home after guests have left. This will allow you to take a break and relax.
