Spouses can be separated by work, children, or other obligations that prevent them from spending quality time together. Stress and hectic schedules should not stop you from spending quality time with your spouse.
These are the top tips from Darren Hardy (publisher of SUCCESS magazine) for Americans who want to reconnect with their significant others:
– Write to each other. While it may be difficult to schedule a date with your spouse every week, the “together time” you arrange might become the highlight in your week. Go to a café and chat over coffee and scones, see a movie or stroll through your neighborhood. You will both have a chance to enjoy a stress-free opportunity to reconnect.
Start by listing the activities you and your spouse would like to do together, such as going to an art exhibit or hiking in nature. Ask your spouse to create a list. Then, pick one activity every week and alternate between the lists.
– Write love notes. You will find your spouse appreciate the small things that make you feel loved.
– Surprise your spouse. You can make breakfast in bed one weekend or invite your spouse along on a weekend getaway.
Help your spouse. Start looking for ways to help your spouse if he or she seems stressed out. You can drive the kids to school so your spouse can stay home, or surprise your spouse with dinner for the entire family on a busy night.
– Be grateful. If couples get into a routine, they may feel less appreciated by each other. You and your spouse work hard to support your family. Say “thank you” to your partner every now and then.
– Arrange lunch dates. You may meet up for lunch weekly if you both work in the same place. Since the children are at school, you won’t need to hire a babysitter and you still have the evening hours for any tasks.
