Summer is here, which means that many women are experimenting with fun and flirty hairstyles. Summer hair is not without its challenges.

A survey by Aussie Hair Care found that 34% of women between 25 and 55 years old consider dryness their main concern. This is followed by sun lightening, chlorine damage and frizz.

Lisa Chiccine, Infusium 23’s stylist, has identified the top trends for this season and offers these tips for summer haircare:

* This season’s hair color is “butterscotch,”Think caramel colors.

Tell your colorist that you want this look. He should place thick streaks of lighter hair near your forehead. Next, apply smaller sections of the same shade to the ends of your hair.

* Ponytails are out this season; messy buns are in.

Begin by putting your hair up in a ponytail. Secure it with an elastic band at your nape.

Take a pick and comb your hair. Then, tie it up in a bun. Spray some hair spray to keep the style.

* Unfurl the curl. Instead of curls, imagine big waves – just like the ocean.

Wrap large sections of your hair around a large barrel curler. You should not put your hair between the tongs as this can cause damage.

Your entire head should be able wrap around the curler in six sections. This will give straight hair some body. However, if your hair is curled, it will create a more natural look.

* The biggest trend for this season is shine.

Use a shine product to your hair. Then heat the dryer with a blowdryer. For the ultimate shine, get a hair dryer with a very thin nozzle. The thinner the tip, the greater the shine.

For shiny, soft hair, experts recommend a range of sprays, serums, and leave-in treatments.

Aussie Sun Touched Shine Conditioning Shine Spray is one to try. It has sea kelp, which will help your hair stay hydrated. Apply the spray to damp hair. Do not rinse. Style your hair as normal. These and other Aussie products can be purchased in local stores for $2.99
