It sounds so easy: Relax. Let go. Breathe.
These mantras are soothing but difficult to accept because Americans are often over-scheduled, stressed, and over-worked.
Anxiety is a common affliction that affects millions of Americans. It is not uncommon for people to admit that they are under pressure, whether it be financial, work, or family issues. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get America to unplug from its problems.
“Many of us have a certain appropriate nostalgia for a quality of life that has been lost,”Rev. In an interview with the Boston Globe, Diane Kessler (retired executive director of Massachusetts Council of Churches) said that she was the Rev. “Many of us remember when we went to church on Sunday morning and then had a family meal afterwards. In a 24/7 society, those rhythms and those patterns have been lost.”
Joyce MeyerBest-selling author, speaker, and Bible teacher, says that modern life can be overwhelming. It is difficult to unplug from distractions. Meyer’s new book, OVERLOAD, How to Unplug and Unwind Yourself from Stress Pressure, addresses this issue by identifying the triggers of worry in your daily life and offering practical, effective advice from a scriptural perspective that she believes will help you to relieve stress.
“Nobody is immune to stress,” Meyer says. “But through exploring the inspiring insights of the Bible and calling on God’s strength to help you triumph over stress, you can achieve the joyful, peaceful life that is intended for you.”
You can also find other ways to decrease anxiety and gain control of your life.
* Make your home a haven. Your home must be a place that you can relax and rejuvenate before the next day. You want the space to be serene and harmonious.
* Take a moment. “There are thousands of ways you can relax. Whether it’s unwinding with music, reading a good book, taking a warm bath by candlelight, going for a walk or engaging in a sport you enjoy, you know what relaxation feels like and you know when it’s happening to you,”Meyer writes in OVERLOAD. “I strongly encourage you to make relaxation a part of your daily life.”
* Use your driving time or commuting time to calm down. Although this may sound absurd, it’s actually quite easy to let go of daily worries and work while driving home. You can relax by listening to audiobooks or singing along with your favorite music. And if it’s sunny, you can open the windows to let the sun and wind take your worries away.
