An apple a daily keeps the doctor away, and helps keep school programs in good shape through a fundraiser sponsored the U.S. Apple Association. The “Buy an Apple, Help a Student”Program from the nation’s apple growers provides a simple formula to support students and encourage healthy snacking.
The U.S. Apple Industry will make a donation to support student projects in schools throughout the country every time someone posts photos of them or their friends enjoying an apple or apple product. The “snack, snap, tag, share”Visit Apples4Ed.com between now & November 12, to view the eligible schools and projects. These projects include book clubs, school gardens, science equipment, teacher resources, and new book clubs.
Four simple steps can be taken to support these causes.
Snack: Grab an apple, apple juice, applesauce, or Marzetti product.
Snap: Snap a photo of yourself or someone you know enjoying the snack.
Tag: Apples4Ed.com helps you to find schools that are pursuing a cause. Tag the photo with #Apples4Ed, and use the school’s unique hashtag.
Share: You can vote for your favourite school cause by sharing photos on Instagram and Twitter.
Photos can be uploaded by those without a public profile through Apples4Ed.com.
USApple will offer weekly drawings, in which participants can win prizes by USApple members or Marzetti. Additionally, they can donate $100 directly to their favorite school project.
Apples4Ed.com provides information about apples’ health benefits and a variety apple recipes. “There’s always been a deep connection between apples and education, and with Apples4Ed we bring it to life by pairing the health benefits of eating apples with supporting students and schools nationwide,”Wendy Brannen, USApple director of consumer and public relations, says “We encourage everyone to visit Apples4Ed.com, check out these meaningful student causes, and vote for the schools nearest them or the program they feel matters the most,”She said. “During last year’s inaugural program, we received more than 20,000 votes,”She adds.
USApple will announce in December the final votes and the funding level that corresponds to them based on each school’s votes.
