* Some fabrics are vulnerable to water spotting — like acetate, silk and suede — so be careful when applying perfume or body spray. These delicate garments require dry cleaning or hand-washing with low heat settings.

* Beware of “pilly”Nylon and acrylic clothing that looks old are not recommended. Fabrics that are susceptible to pilling should be washed, dried, and ironed at low heat. These items, particularly sweaters, may be laid out to dry.

* Although cotton remains the world’s most popular fabric, it is prone to wrinkling. Most cotton clothing can be machine washed. However, items with accents or embellishments should be turned inside-out or placed in a delicates bag.
