There are many things to think about when buying a fragrance.
It doesn’t have be hard to choose a signature fragrance. Jan Moran, creator of Sephora Fragrance Finder By Scentsa, a touch screen technology that allows shoppers to find and learn more about perfumes, shares the following tips.
Know your smells. Scents can be divided into five groups: fresh, floral, spicy, warm, earthy, and brisk aromas. Different scents appeal to different people.
Fresh scents such as citrus, aquatic, and fruit aromas are indicative of a cheerful personality. Woody and earthy scents can be soothing and calm. Sephora’s Scentsa has a variety of scents. “Discover Your Signature Scent Style Quiz,”These can help you to determine which scents appeal most to you.
“With more than 500 new fragrances launched each year, you really have to be educated to find a scent that works for you,”Moran. “Scentsa’s touch-screen application features current information on more than 6,000 fragrances, so it helps customers find confidence when shopping.”
You might also consider fragrance wardrobing. Once you’ve identified the scents that you love, you can adjust your perfume for different events, moods, or climates. For summer, choose rich fragrances in the winter and lighter scents in the summer. Relax with lavender and vanilla, and energize with tuberose and rose.
– Select a strength for your fragrance. Perfume is the strongest form of perfume, followed by eau-de-cologne, eau-de toilette, and eau d’eau. However, intense does not necessarily mean the fragrance will be strong and bold, but it will last longer on your skin.
– Place fragrance on your pulse points. Your pulse points can be found behind your ears at your throat, nape of neck, around your neck and at your wrists. Spray the fragrance to ensure a uniform application.
Make sure to properly store your fragrance. To ensure maximum shelf life, keep fragrances in cool, dry places with the cap securely secured. Avoid direct sunlight.
